ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Claudia

I was born in Chico, California and was raised in the small town of Hamilton City in Glenn County. I am the oldest of five siblings and we all attended Hamilton City's public schools. My parents worked as farmworkers for many years and both of my grandfathers worked as agricultural laborers in the U.S. Bracero Program. Many of my family members continue to work in agriculture and in the trades. I live in Woodland with my husband, Kevin.
I am the first in my immediate family to complete middle school and English is my second language. I earned my Bachelor’s degree at UC Davis, my teaching credential at Sacramento State and my Master’s in Linguistics and Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies & Teacher Education at Stanford University. I know the impact k-12 public schools can have on student lives.

My career in education was shaped by a pivotal factor - mentorship. I am a former elementary school teacher and currently prepare and support teachers. I was fortunate to have been guided into the teaching profession by talented and committed Woodland teachers, an experience that has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the role of mentorship in our field.

I will use my deep understanding of education, creative problem-solving and leadership skills to support our schools.
